Michael Nystrom received his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies, with a focus on Japanese postwar economic development, from the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. After continuing his studies in Japan for two years, he returned to receive his MBA from the Foster School of Business at the UW, with a focus on International Marketing.
Mr. Nystrom is a serial entrepreneur with close ties to the startup communities in Boston and Taipei. In Boston, he started and for ten years ran one of the largest political and economic forums on the internet. In Taiwan, he has worked as a researcher for the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and later as a consultant to ITRI, the Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB), and the Digital Transformation Association (DTA). He was a founding member of the Taiwan Phoenix https://taiwanphoenix.com/ team, Taiwan’s first digital health accelerator where he served as a startup coach, and was Coach in Residence for the 2019 Bridge to MassChallenge Taiwan Program.
He is currently the cofounder and head brewer at Earthling Superfoods, working to bring kombucha and other healthy fermented superfoods to the good people of Taiwan.
